After graduating from UVA, where she majored in Drama, Tina headed to Chicago where she is immersed herself in the world of improv. She took classes at both Second City and Improv Olympic. She was a performer on Second City's Main Stage, starring in the now famous Paradigm Lost, before being recruited to SNL in 1997 as a writer. In 1999, she made history by becoming the show's first female head writer- a job she held until her departure.
In 2000, Tina made her screen debut as a featured player when she co-hosted the show's Weekend Update segment with Jimmy Fallon. In 2001, she was promoted to regular cast member.
In 2004, Tina's first feature film, Mean Girls was released to both critical and audience success. It was the number one film at the box office on it's opening weekend and went on to gross over $80 Million dollars domestically.
In the summer of 2006 NBC announced Tina's long awaited sitcom project, 30 Rock had secured a slot on it's new fall lineup.
Despite plans to balance both jobs, Tina had to resign her position on SNL in the spring of 2006 to better accomodate her already busy schedule. Her last show aired on May 20th, 2006.
On October 11th, 2006 30 Rock premiered on NBC. Though starting off slow, the show garnered a loyal following and in the fall of 2007 beat all odds to win Best Comedy Series at the 59th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.
Tina still remains busy in her off time, taking care of her daughter Alice and continueing to work on her follow up feature film, Curly Oxide and Vic Thrill. Tina lives in New York City with her husband Jeff Richmond and baby Alice.
